Jury Duty

Well, I know I'm PMSing when I start tearing up while local newsman Tom Joles tells us how lucky we are to live in a country where we get the right to a trial and it's a priveledge that I was chosen to do so.

Of course, the solemness quickly turned to laughter when he had to go into the history of how we got a court system including HILARIOUS reenactments of people getting killed in lieu of trials including the guy getting his feet bound to a small rock and then "thrown" into the shallow end of the Rio Grande. It was so hard not to laugh in the middle of that courtroom. Good times, good times.

But it sounds like this isn't going to be the schedule nightmare I thought it was. Probably only called to 4-8 juries during the whole time and they only last a day. I just have to let them know when I'm not available and it seems like it'll be cool. Mom's talking about driving to Arizona in May so I wasn't sure how that would work out, if it doesn't fall through.

AND I got a kickass pink skull bandana at the staff meeting today, which went nicely with my pink penguin shirt. So I had to start representing for my new gang, The Piratical Penguins.

Piratical Penguins!
Slidin' on ice!
Piratical Penguins!
Lookin' real nice!
Piratical Penguins!
Wearing our tuxes!
Piratical Penguins!
Driving a Lexus!!

Awwww, yeah!!

Well, I needed a theme rap and that was the best I could do at 8 in the morning. ;P

I have absolutely no enthusiasm for work today. Usually I can fake cheerfulness and enthusiasm pretty well, but I just feel too drained at the moment. It didn't help that the internet messed up 15 mins before opening and I had to call Cableone to find out WTF was going on w/out knowing any of our account information. And for you guys that don't know, Sundays are freaking insane for free computer use here and are constantly full with hour waits for the whole afternoon. Does everyone know I work at the public library? I try not to talk about work much in case coworkers stumble upon it.

Anyhow, I want to order the Heroes OST and Amazon seems like the best place to go, but I've been getting upgrade offers for my Amazon Visa, but since it requires a call-in and I hate calling, I've put it off, but I finally sucked it up last night. There doesn't seem to be any hidden fees or anything, it will just increase all the points I currently get (it will now be 3 for amazon purchases, 2 for dining/gas/etc, 1 for others) and for the first 90 days, I get triple all of that. So I want to order my Heroes cd, but it makes sense to just go for the $25 and get the free shipping right? Which means I need 11.01 in the cart. A graphic novel seems perfect for that and so I can get more Fables, but it alternates and it seems every other one is 10.53 or 12.35. No clue why. Guess I'll have to wait til tonight since I forgot which ones I got for my birthday.

And I've got one more doll in the mail....it's a really good deal though! Nah-ahto for $50+10 shipping, already on a marrone obitsu! I resisted temptation and didn't get Nero(though she had her for 60 and offered 50 and was shot down, it was worth a try!), but now Ms. Imp has me questioning that decision, but TIB seems to have fallen off the internet, so I guess it's a moot point.

I should be putting up a half-assed display for Banned Books Week and working on the schedule, but it's so much easier to procrastinate...*sigh*

Man, I'm exhausted again. Damn work(see coworkers). *sigh*

I found out that there's a Poker Run this weekend though. Time to fire up the Geo Prizm to ride with the Harleys! Yah, Geo Prizm! Whoa! It's been Xarx, me and my brother the past few times, but since [livejournal.com profile] xarx had to go quell the zombie uprising in New Socorro, it'll be Mom, Danny and me, with me as navigator and mom driving. So long as I get to drive around and listen to music though, I'm fine. Oh wait, I just realized we'll be driving in the Honda Accord. Not as embarassing as my car. :(

Okay, so this morning as I'm getting ready )

The boss is away this week, though, and you know what that means...sexy party!

I thought stress was supposed to age you, but I guess it youthens me?? Everyone at work today has called me "hun", "Sweetie", "Miss Amanda" or some other endearment. I don't mind since I've gotten it my whole life, but it just seems to be happening all over the place today. Weird.

I started my first LJ community! http://community.livejournal.com/ellowynewilde/
They're my new doll fix for those of my friends not into that scene. All that's around is a yahoo message board where i have to tell why I want to join (duh, cause I like EW?) and some weird posty website thing, so I wanted something with easier access. Maybe just not that many people are into them, but I guess we'll see.

Gah, I need to buy the plane tickets for AZ. Now I'm worried that I'll buy too much stuff at the con and won't have time to mail it back since I'm flying out the day after. I worry so much about big things like this. Well, you guys know how much I spaz over the little stuff so this is always worse. At least I got the time off approved. I sent off my taxes, so hopefully by the time the CC rolls around I'll be close to getting the rebate.

Oh, the dumb moniker? Well that's for a couple reasons. One more greivous than the other. The first is cause I didn't buy the Sailor Moon boxsets when they were released and which have now vanished. I managed to pick up the S season in a lot on ebay last night for pretty cheap considering all the other stuff it comes with. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160223579671
Who would've thought, though?? All the indiv ones just languish around. *sigh*

And the other is work-related. I hate buying books for my sections. So instead of doing it throughout the year, I save it all up for the very end. I think I stressed way more over the weekend than I needed to about it, but I still wonder what's wrong with me that I just procrastinate so bad on everything. See above re: plane ticket situation. There's other work stuff going on that's beyond my control though with the stupid designer people being all fucking lazy for a brochure we paid for and delaying the printers. This thing has been half-assed from the getgo so I hope we never use them again!!

In better news though, I won my Scorpio Zodiac doll on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170205770675
I was going to try and buy her from another seller for $20 and I'm soooo glad I waited! All that's left is Sagitarius and Leo! Amazon has Sag, but I may have bought her and misplaced her so that's why I haven't gotten her yet. I don't think I've seen any Leos on ebay though, so she's going to be a tough one. I also won some clothes for Tatters and hopefully future Ellowynes to come.

I know, I know, con, saving money! I will!!
