Wee, Summer!

The weather's calling for 109 degrees on Saturday. I was saying "It's okay, I'll be working and in a temp-controlled building all day", but I came in to a darkened, hella creepy building this morning and they still haven't gotten all of the electricity fixed. The A/C's out in parts of the building. Just being in the reference office for 30 minutes had me almost to the point of throwing up, so if it's not fixed by then, SUCK. Thankfully, the internet at least came back up. Before we opened, there wasn't even enough juice for the computers to turn ON. There's still random outages though, and I almost needed a flashlight to find a biography for someone. Just 3 1/2 more hours! Glad I'm off tomorrow at least!

Bama weather isn't quite that bad, only pushing maybe 92-95...but the humidity this year is palpable. You walk outside and you can taste the damp on your skin. What's more is that they seem to like conserving power or something on the weekends, because the last couple of Saturdays I have worked, the A/C comes on later in the day if it all...which means that by the time it comes on, the whole front side of the library smells like warm armpits and I'm sitting there with a sweaty forehead.

Good times.

Maybe they'll not keep that up or I'm going to go and find some sort of portable A/C or ice suit or something and bring it with me.

We get our 110 degree weather starting Sunday. It'll only go up from there. oh boy!

I will gladly take the dry heat here over any kind of humidity! That is like death to me! I can't even imagine your scenario with no A/C! Yuck!!
