The joys of holidays.
Jan. 3rd, 2007 04:37 pmWell, as most everyone knows, Tatton was down for Christmas. Though he was due to leave the wednesday after, tuesday night turned into a 8 hour ordeal wherein, we had to go to the emergency room at 11 at night were it took forever to be seen, despite the horrible pain Tatton was obviously in. Then I get to sit around various places in the ER for the next 5 hours. Though the tech guy was cool enough to let me sit in on the CT scan from the lab room or whatever it is.
So finally at 4am after i've managed to sleep for a whopping 20 mins during the 3 hour wait, they come in and say it's "probably" kidney stones, so here's some scripts and you can go. Tatton was looped out on pain meds, so that part was funny at least. But man, that is something I don't ever want to do again. I don't know how people can make a habit out of going to the hospital. It's horrible. So we get out of there around 4am, go to the pharmacy and finally get home around 5. Tatton's due to fly out in a mere 5 hours. So common sense dictates that passing kidney stones and being doped up on meds while traveling for 12 hours is not a combination for success. So he spends the next half hour trying to rearrange flights to a later date which it is then discovered can only happen at an actual ticket counter. It's now 6am which is the time I had gotten up the day before and now a full 24 hours without sleep. But I managed to get us out to the airport, the tickets are changed in like 5 minutes and we can go back. It's now 7am. I sure as hell am not going into work, but nobody's answering the phone so I have to wait til 8. I fell asleep waiting, even though I didn't want to and somehow managed to call in, I think with Tatton waking me up, but it's a blur. And then Tatton apologized too much for being a burdon and made us even more crazy. So there's our fun Christmas of '06 story.
Christmas itself was nice and understated and pretty much went the way it always does which is fine with me and my family. I'll list my stuff later, since I haven't even gotten a chance to look through it.
We didn't really get a chance to go anywhere or do anything big, but we did get to watch a lot of King of the Hill and Ned and Stacey so I think our time was used wisely enough. ; P
