I'm a dingbat, that's what happened. *sigh* I came home at lunch and checked my mail and saw something from Xcel, which since I don't get paper bills I thought was just those change of policy things you get, but it said open immediately, so I did and low and behold I see a payment box for $200 something dollars along with a disconnect notice. So I run to my computer and search through my email and lo and behold the last 4 are unread which means I didn't pay them for God only knows what reason. I thought maybe they'd been going to my spam file or something, but nope, the one from the 22nd was right there. So I paid the 200 something, but still owe another hundred something from this upcoming due payment, but that's not til after payday at least. I cannot for the life of me figure out why I didn't think to pay it for so long.
I've done similar things...I don't try to be irresponsible, but sometimes I just...forget. There are things I will never forget...but sometimes I just...don't remember.
Oh my god, I am so glad it's not just me who can be a space cadet. It's not like I didn't want to pay or anything(well, I do generally hate having to pay bills and have to force myself to sit there like homework -_-), it's just with 7 or so floating around and NONE of them being due at the same time or paid for the in the same way, I have a hard time keeping track. And I buy wipey calendars and...never use them. Guess I should start. :/ I hate how the date changes though like they'll be due the 16th and then it scales back over time til the 11th. Blarg, anyways, you don't care. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one. :)
I bet you won't forget this particular bill from now on. *smirk*
But the changing date thing is really inconvenient... Mine are always due on the same day of the month or something like the 3rd Friday. But then I tend to pay all my bills at once before the soonest of them is due. So I don't even have to care when the later ones are due.
been there and done that - over and over again actually - especially the water bill when I had one -pretty much once a month the kid would get home from school and call to tell me "mom, water is off -did your forget again? embarrassing to say the least --
I finally put everything on auto pay - had to - but it works - though occasionally I got to checking and go Ack where is my money
