Well, the vet's putting Remy to sleep this afternoon. He thinks it was this:

We didn't him for very long but he had a great personality so this is pretty sad. Trying not to cry at work, but it's not working. *sigh*

I'm sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a cat. A lot of people don't realize that they're more than pets, they're our friends.
