Sarcasm of course. Why is it that when the universe gives me a good thing (the fair win), it then has to knock me over and kick me in the ribs a few times?

Well, I obviously got through Friday and actually the fear and dread leading up to it were worse than the actual process, but it still left me pretty drained. The OM was all freaked when I told her that when I was younger and my mom would clean my room, I'd go through some form of shock and sleepwalk that night from the stress or whatever of having it cleaned. More an environment change I think, than the actual cleanliness. Hell, I don't know, I have issues, okay?

Anyways, yesterday the internet was down at work ALL freaking day, so it made for an exceedingly boring morning (patrons only come in to use the internet apparently and will only ask ref questions afterwards) not even providing a distraction from the upcoming horror. I was all set to email DDE and cancel my order for that BJD because I had gotten to thinking about all the other stuff I could buy, Absolute Sandman vols 2-4, Rhapsody, new Castlevania DS, wigs and crap for my current bjds, etc and go to Alb guilt-free and getting my hair cut and dyed...but, I didn't get to do this cause of the internet and by the time I got home from shopping on Friday night, DDE had written me again to see if I got the first email and to offer up the other Gabriel they have in stock, though not with any discount. But they just had to include a picture.

Gabrielle

Gah, she's gorgeous!! I had been telling myself that she would arrive looking a lot crappier than the photos and for $500 I better love a doll like a child and I was pretty sure I wouldn't, but when I look at that pic, I'm just like "Want!! So pretty!" So now I'm back undecided. :( If you guys have any opinions one way or t'other or thoughts on why or why not in either direction, please let me know 'em. *sigh*

Then while catching up on a day's worth of email I see one from George that this upcoming weekend probably won't work out for out trip. It's not his fault or anything, but it's frustrating since Robert and I had already gotten the time off approved and I was getting my lists together and had this all planned for. I thought Robert was going to be my wildcard, but apparently not. Won't know for sure til Monday, either.

The Rock n' Gem show was today and I was so anxious about everything that I couldn't even enjoy. I didn't even play the spin wheel which feels so utterly wrong. Oh and I noticed Thursday that someone fucking stole the Obama sticker off the back of my car. Freedom of speech, my ass. Anyone know where I can get a sticker that says "At least democrats don't steal the bumper stickers off of people's cars"? Assholes.

Oh yeah, AND I got a condescending email back from BAM in response to when they were going to fucking ship my book since it's been almost a month since I placed it, just to get some kind of estimate. You'd think in this economy merchants would be bending over backwards in service to keep customers. Gah.

I guess I'm confused. Is this the same type of doll your ordered originally or a different one? And are they offering it in place of the original doll or along with the original doll?

If you like this one as much or better then the original order, I'd just switch to this doll to get it over with. But if you don't, then I'd just cancel the order & spend the money on all the other stuff you mentioned. I don't think it's worth it to wait any longer for the original doll unless you really, really, really have to get the original. If it's not really, really, really... then best to cut out the stress of it all now.

That's my thought anyways. But I'm not a doll petter so take it as you want. lol ^_^

Sorry about that, I have posted the story a bit haphazardly. I guess it helps to know how these bjd orders work too, huh?

While the dolls like pullips are premade and already at the US stores, the BJDs are cast from resin and handpainted and therefore made to order. So yours is made especially for you, for the most part, so you can choose the body, skin color and makeup or not, etc. Unfortunately, most of these countries are overseas in Hong Kong or Korea or Japan. I think this particular one is HK? Anyways, by ordering through Denverdoll, I'm dealing with an American agent and they'll get a lot of dolls in a group so that I just pay shipping from them to me and not have to worry about the uberhigh overseas shipping and the tacked on paypal fees and language barriers.

The doll I originally ordered was pretty much identical to this one, but this company had 2 makeup options, the "nicer" one that's pictured in the company photos and a "plainer" one that was $30 less. I chose the more expensive one, plus the pink skin and requested blue/purple eyes. So I was quoted about 4-6 weeks for the company to make the doll and send it to DDE who would then send it on to me with the rest of my order (some shoes for the other dolls and an outfit for this one since I have no other dolls her size).

What apparently happened though is that the overseas company goofed somehow and didn't fulfill my doll order, which is why they quoted me more time or money back. However, DDE and some of the other american sellers keep some dolls on hand, which means you'd get immediate shipment but not your choice of options. And right now they have the doll in the picture in stock, who is essentially what I ordered just with the lesser faceup which actually looks really nice and that would save me $30 on the order anyways. This is the stock photo:

It's pretty much now a question of should I get this doll that I've pretty much paid for 2 months ago, or should I take the opportunity to get my money back and either get her again sometime down the line or just wait and see if I don't even want her anymore. The risk with that is that she might increase in price or be discontinued altogether, but then $500 is a crapload of money to spend on a doll. I know I'm probably the only one who can answer, but is she worth it? :/

Did that help explain it too? It took me forever to figure out half this bjd stuff and I still don't know what's going on half the time. *^^

Yes, that did help. ^_^

I'd go with the instant gratification doll myself. But that's because nothing ever goes wrong just once with my luck. 2 months form now they'd still not have the original doll & no instant doll to offer up. But again that's just my luck. Although it's kinda funny to see me preaching the instant gratification option.

But if you have a doubt about wanting the BJD a few months from now. I'd go ahead and cancel the order. 500's a lot to spend on a doubt.

But then again... you are the only one who knows for sure. Good luck Zallia Sempai, it's a tough call.

Well that's just frustrating...I don't know what I would do, I've dealt with DDE several times with no issue, and I can't even push out a gut response to this matter--I'd probably take the doll and ask for a refund of the difference in the face-up...but at the same time, if she's not *the* one you're waiting for, it might be hard to accept her over the other...if that even makes rational sense. That said, she is very pretty....gah! I just love the dollies! hehe

My dad had that wonderfully snarky "GOP: Grand Oil Party" sticker on his car for a long time...and that used to get him flipped off and things quite a bit. I don't do or really say anything when I see stickers for things I don't agree with because I really think people are free to make their own choices, but it always surprises me when people are so petty about it and *do* things to other cars or people. I bet there are no two people out there with 100% the same opinions about EVERYTHING, so people need to chill out on each other.
