Weariness sets in...

Hey all.
It was Potter's Guild Weekend and leading up to it and the event itself is always draining. Not that I really do anything, but mom's always such a mess her spaziness just takes a lot out of me. At least these days I have a car and am not stuck there for the full 8 hours, but I'm still hella glad it's over. Mom will never do anything either "until after Potter's Guild" so things should begin moving again.

I found a new dolly friend to talk to! We PM back and forth while we should be working, lol. I'm glad since I need someone to gossip with in whatever I do. OMG, I've spent way too much on dolls this month. I really hadn't planned on it, but the Rozen Maiden sale was just too irresistable. At least it looks like they probably won't bill til next week so it may give the CC time to cycle. I think I have like 9 coming!? I regret Holly and Latte now, since I bought them before this flux of ones I really wanted. -_- Damn my impulse buying. At least I have shades for Death though. 

And in further proof of my lameness, after signing up for NaNo and starting a story, I have done absolutely nothing. God, I'm so stubborn about actually doing things and I have no idea why. I get very melancholy and then want to do a project to feel productive and then...don't. I guess I just figure it won't amount to anything in the end, so why even bother?

My photoshoot's not going well either. After working on it for like 3 hours, I have absolutely nothing submitable. The lighting in my house is ghastly since my LR light's fucked up and I just don't have a good photo studio. I'll upload them to flickr tonight and see if anyone can help me out. I really like the concept and props, but the execution is just not there at all. It's so discouraging. Once again, my only goal is to get past the first round, though the prizes are pretty awesome, but I know I won't make it there. Gah, how do people get such good lighting on theirs?!

Did they really kill off Cotton on King of the Hill? I couldn't watch cause I can't deal with death right now.

Well, I'm getting sleepy/sick from the incense so I guess I'll leave it there.

It'll take a little longer, but if you shoot in manual mode there are some tricks you can use to play with the light. You have to set your camera up on a tripod though because any movement will mess with the shot. I don't want to blow up your LJ with long lists again, but one easy thing you can do to fix the lighting is to prop up a flashlight and have it shoot into a piece of paper or two. The paper will diffuse the light and remove the beam so the light will be spread evenly across your subjects. Sometime when you have some time to kill we could play on the phone and I could show you some settings and we could stage some shots and see if it's more along the lines of what you're looking for.

I'm already doing that with the flash, but I can't hold things in one hand and take pics in the other and the place where I have to shoot doesn't have anywhere to set it. I think I may have to come up with something else this morning just so I can take an outside pic.

You shouldn't worry about the NaNo thing. When the words are ready to come out, they just flow from you. You can sit there and force them out but it's never as good.

Buy too many dolls & you won't be able to fit them all in a suitcase to show them off at the con! Besides... your not suppose to buy stuff so close to Christmas. :P

Don't worry about the story thing. Hobbies don't have deadlines; you do what you want with them. If not, then the hobby ownz you.

As for the doll pics. I looked through them & left a comment on the one I like best. The lighting wasn't so horrible on a good amount of them. Besides, if they're gambling; it's suppose to be murky, dark looking.
Other people probably bought light sets up & stuff. maybe invest in a cheap lamp you can set over you dolls, just use the paper trick to diffuse it like your doing. or go overly complex & build miniature sets complete with working electrical lights, lol.

Actually there are these miniature photo tents people buy to use that I may look into. And yeah I was hoping the natural dankness of an illegal gambling den would give it a pass, lol. It was hard getting everything I wanted to into the shot though.

I thought about that, but I bought mom a Jdoll through the same sale, I've already bought Robert's, George said he doesn't want one, and you usually don't like for me to spend a lot on you. So that pretty much just leaves my dad and Danny who suck to buy for anyways, so I don't have to spend much. ;P

Well I meant it in more of the if you buy stuff you like close to Christmas you make it harder for others to buy that stuff for you. :P

but after being exceptionally poor... i find i like when people spend money on my now, lol. spend away! :P if you want.

I actually haven't thought about gifts for anyone yet. hmm.. I'm running out of time. uh oh.

Hmm.. now I have to actually think of stuff to ask for.
I'll have to email you later about that stuff and you can inform me of anything you want too. Although your right to not expect an 80 dollar doll from me though, lol. Maybe some doll clothes though....
