Well, I still haven't heard from George about us trying this again sans Robert this weekend, so I guess that's off. I thought maybe his net was down, but he should be at work today and still nothing, so I'll take that as a "no". But that leaves me wanting to spend money somewhere and that somewhere happens to be on my new doll. But Holy Christmas, nothing about these stupid bjds is cheap!! I can definately see the appeal of sticking to pullips who can at least where Barbie clothes and you can get those nice $10 fashion closets.

First, Tessa needs shoes. Yeah, I've got those yellow sneakers, but I'd like something more formal and versatile. Now, when I ordered her, I also ordered an outfit made by the same company since 1.) It was the cheapest by half of the others 2.) I wanted her to have an immediate outfit I knew would fit and 3.) it said that it came with "boots". Now silly me, I thought these would be the nice black boots in the picture. But apparently boots in Chinese means "leg warmers" so instead I got glorified sock covers. When I emailed DDE about this, they're just like "oh yeah, guess we should change that, huh". Um, yeah, guess so. I realize now I should have asked first, but still...grrr! And unfortunately, they have the best selection of shoes, and undersell Junkyspot by a few dollars, so looks like I'll still have to go back to them. Unless anybody else has recommended BJD US sellers? I've tried going through DOA but most of that stuff is the $50 kind, which...no.

THEN while I'm shopping for damn shoes, I realize I want her to be in a nice pretty dress I can leave her in, because I'm mad at the current outfit for the shoe thing, plus it just looks too young for her(it's a schoolgirl outfit). Once again, DOA peddles in the ungodly range of prices, but shopping around, I realize that that is apparently the standard. And now I want a fer. Featherfall has an exclusive gorgeous royal purple one and when I emailed them to make sure it was SD they said they only have one left in stock. ;_; Fers are these like nice form-fitted ruffly dresses that come with a fancy jacket, necklace, choker, fancy arm-warmer things and just looks overall beautiful. But Dollheart also has a couple other dresses that are lovely and don't seem as hard to get. But the price of those fers just goes up...gah. I don't need to be spending so much on a doll, but I want her to look the best she can!

And THEN since I love Tessa so much, I was looking at Angell-studio's other dolls, so I could have a new goal in site for next year and see that they've released a number of new dolls. It's kind of cool, cause it will be the same mold, but depending on the skin color, they do the makeup in a totally different style. So, I fell in love with this girl:

And up until today, her price had been $0 which I thought was because she hadn't been released yet, but then I read their news that that's because you had to buy them as a set.

And that guy does nothing for me, and I didn't want to spend the money to sell him off. But lo and behold as I went to get that link for you guys, I see that she now has a price. I was going to settle for getting one of the 1/6 or 1/4 dolls that are comparatively cheaper, but now...looks like I have a new goal. I wish they didn't do that to her nails though, they look all jaundiced and gross. But since I don't get body-blushing I'm hoping that's not standard. I dunno, what do you guys think of Ms. Sun-tanned Cinderella?

So that's where I'm at now. Spend money for just the shoes for Tessa, fancy dress and shoes for her, hang on to the money for another bjd down the line, or do the smart thing and just not buy any of it (hahahaha, crazy doll people, am I right? >_>) Gah, what's wrong with this hobby!! How does it make me lose all rational common sense and think that paying twice as much as my own for doll shoes is acceptable! And I purposely am leaving out the cost of those dresses. I ordered a pattern for clothes, but mom won't be able to get around to anything until late november after potter's guild.

Hey, actually I have a question. How many of you guys are sewers? How did you learn? Class, books, self-taught, friend/family member? Do you find you always have to use patterns or do you free-hand it? I've tried a few times to learn from mom, but I can never get over there consistently, so I want to just take my machine to my house so I can do it while I watch TV, but I tend to jack up the bobbins and get all freaked out. :/
