I really want to buy an mp3 player, but have no idea what to go with. All the guides online are 3+ years old or just have generic harddrive/flash definitions. I know you mac guys will tell me ipod, but will it do okay with a windows system? And I fucking hate itunes. And video or no?So any help is appreciated. Thanks!!
Well my first week and half at the library's going sorta okay. It's a whole new set of crap, which I guess is to be expected at any job. Went from crap job/good boss to good job/crap boss, though. Still feeling really hesitant about my ability to do it, but hopefully it works out. If not my old job will have me back readily and I must say, I sorely miss the complete lack of freedom that job provided in terms of work schedule. Good god, I hate minute-counting nazis. Argh.
Batman Beyond came out on DVD, yay! Kingdom Hearts soon to follow, yay!
Well I guess that's about it on my front. Ja!

what do you hate about itunes?

if you want to use an ipod, thats pretty much what youre stuck with in terms of transferring stuff

but that doesnt mean youre locked into using itunes as a player/ripper

You can put your current MP3 collection into iTunes, they just have their store built into it too.

If I can find it, I have a silly old MP3 CD player that doesn't have a good interface(and it's no iPod replacement), but it's decent for leaving in the car with a couple CDs of MP3s. Let me know if you want it and I'll be happy to mail it to ya!

lol A silly old one, eh? That's okay, I'd rather have the small, portable kind. My car stereo already plays Mp3 cds too. Okay, you guys, which ipod should I get then? Is video worth it, or should I just stick with straight music? 60 gigs or will something smaller work?

I'm happy with the 60gb Video. I only watch vids when I'm traveling, but the color screen makes for a much nicer interface and it's got a huuuuuuge screen so it's easy to read in the car. The battery life is phenomenal too.

Gack those are expensive. You've had the non-video one too, right? Is there much difference between the video aspect or did they do a lot of other nice upgrades as well? I don't know that I'd use the video enough to warrant it. Or do they even make them non-video anymore?

yeah, thats bad marketing,

itunes will play existing mp3s and allows you to rip and burn cds

you can skip the store altogether, but i do use every now and then, as they will put up extra unreleased tracks for 99 cents, thats a much better deal than buying an import cd
